Party party and dressing up
It couldn't be better timing for me…I'm not feeling well and really need to get back to bed, but I have a marvelous post for you today written for you by the lovely Jennifer from the beautiful Australian online style network for moms :: mini-stylista. Jennifer was so kind to help me out and when i asked to give me her thought on a nice dress-up party for kids this what she found for us, thanks Jen!
Celebrating your childs birthday is always a special event! Parents can have so much fun choosing themes, decorations, props and food to make it an 'event' to remember. My son recently celebrated his first birthday and for his party we chose a 'Spooky theme' for something a little different (and due to the fact my husband wanted to call my son 'Spooky')! We found the most amazing spider invitations from Alannah Rose (they also have gorgeous little 'Birdy' invitations as pictured above), fake spider webs and bats from a toy store and to complete the day our friend made some fabulous cupcakes with letters spelling the word 'spooky' on the cakes. But to be honest what I loved the most about the party was 'dressing up' in costumes.
Recently I came across the most amazing online costume shop from Wanabe Costume Store. It was the Indian headpiece that really caught my eye! I also love the Red Riding Hood costume (pictured below) and isn't it amazing that you can actually start with a costume and create a party theme from the outfit!
These gorgeous Red Riding Hood 'Thank you cards' and 'I Love you Deerly' notecards are available at A Little Sweetness. There are also matching Red Riding Hood Party invitations. The polkadot bunting (Top right) is from Giggleberry Creations.
There is also a divine Mermaid and Pirate costume available from Wanabe Costume Store which would be perfect for an under the sea theme! I am seriously considering this theme for my son's next party! I have already found some gorgeous colourful cupcake wrappers for patty cakes from The Cupcake Wrapper Co (as pictured below) which would work well with mermaid costumes and beautiful blue decorations. For party activites I love to include craft we could create a group sea mural and add colourful foil fish, crepe paper sea weed and paint the ocean with watercolours!!! Parties really do allow one to be so creative! Well I hope this has given everyone lots of inspiration! I would love to hear any suggestions for my next son's birthday party and Thank you Irene for allowing me to guest post.
