"Last month Christchurch was struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake and since this event, I've been reminded of how much goodwill people have towards one another and their willingness to lend a helping hand. Kids who've lost their schools have received toys to put a smile back on their faces, families who are now homeless have found shelter through local support, businesses are being rebuilt or relocated with the aid of the public. People are helping complete strangers to get back on their feet. So for me, Christmas this year is not just about family – it's about community. Individuals coming together and supporting one another. Christmas can be a time of depression and sadness for many and sometimes we need reminding that the world is full of people who want to reach out and help when we're in need. Our little family is lucky that we'll be able to celebrate over a barbecue, splashing at the local beach and soaking up the sun and love of close family and friends this Christmas. I can't wait :-) Maddie "
