HomemadeHappiness for Lode

Two weeks ago I was preparing Lode's Birthday party. Together with his best friend Matthew he invited 20 of his friends to celebrate both their Birthdays at our home. In a Flow magazine (magazine from the Netherlands that i really LOVE) I had found this poster with 'Donkey and the tail' game, illustrated by Caroline Ellerbeck from HomeMadeHappiness, which I kept to use as one of the many games Lode wanted to do with his friends. To be honest I like keeping Birthday parties for the kids a bit low-key and very important with a homy feel… the excitement of having all their friends over is already causing sleepless nights … :)

So just like last year we decided to play old-fashioned games like musical-statues, watergames, eating the Birthday cake and end the wonderful morning with cracking down a Pinata….. read more>>

For the invitations I got some great help from the always friendly, working, tweeting and super talented Diana van Ewijk from (again) HomemadeHappiness. She had send me the circus pdf that I could use for the birthday invitations. I printed the happy elephant and animal train on some paper and wrote the invitation message on the inside.

I haven’t seen Pin the Tail on the Donkey since I was a kid! I love that you incorporated old fashioned party games into your son’s birthday party. Everything was so visually appealing for the adult in me, but also looked like a party any kid would love to attend. Well done!

That looks like such a sweet party! Happy Birthday Lode!
I love that little spaceman/robot embroidery in the last picture. Was it from a pattern or did you get it already made? My son would love something like that!

Hi Melissa, the embroidery pattern came from one of those wonderful Japanese books that i bought over at Kinokuniya, but the book is the Netherlands, so I wont be able to help you with the title… so sorry.
