In the Picture: Eero Saarinen’s Tulip chair

Marcheldens_saarinen

In the Picture: Tulip chair, designed by Finnish American architect, Eero Saarinen in 1955 and 1956 for the Knoll company of New York City. It was designed primarily as a chair to match the complementary dining table.

I love the smooth organic lines, they make me think of a flower. My favorite would be the one with the green seating and preferably a vintage one… not easy to find nowadays but I will keep on looking.

The image on the left side is by Dutch photgrapher, Marc Heldens.

I love them too! In fact, I have a vintage copy by Pastoe, both the table and one chair. We had the opportunity of buying 5 matching chairs, but to my opinion that would be a little too much tulips in my house. I’m still very happy with them though…

This chair looks so perfect and will fit to more modern design and to a vintage interior as well. Honestly the combination of the photo is fantastic combining all those details from different design styles
